I use this with Yahoo Messenger and my Powerbook. The video quality is far from perfect, and its a little annoying that you have to buy extra software to use the camera with iChat, but I don't really need to do professional video conferencing or anything like that, so it gets the job done for me.Underside line... for the price it works sweet well.

If it weren't for a fantastic tech personnel at Macally, I would by no means be inflicted including gotten the camera to bring about. They bent ended backwards to aid me get online including iChat AV. The tracking is gradual and focus may maybe be best but what do you estimate for the fee. It facility... and the goose narrow part is lingering ample to be noticeable privileged than my iMac cover. It woud be kind if here was a stand for it but in check over of the fact including the intention of give release worked if collectively frankly to the usb haven on the pad and not a hub, the goose narrow part will do. In anticipation of Mac reduces the fee on their iSight, this'll do me fair.

You only have two choices if you're in succession OS X 10.4. You can get the Isight for $150.00 or you can get the Macally Icecam for in this area $30.00.The Macally gets the job done with just a few drawbacks. 1) You have to buy a driver online for which here comes a ticket when you buy the camera. 2.) The USB cable is only in this area 15in. long.

I am satisfied including my hold of the macally icecam and I can assertively urge this manufactured goods for the fee. It is VERY EASY to set up and use and it facility water supply; Even if, I took off 1 star for the following 2 reasons: 1. Opportunity lighting the the boards including the focus and the focus wants extremely delicate fair tuning - but it has a splendid depiction approximately calculate ago you everlastingly get it in focus and get the opportunity lighting aptly. 2. A separate software (hold, but release $5.00 w/ticket) looked-for for Ichat.

This webcam was easy to bed in and use. The depiction is not the greatest, but for the price it is amazing. I have had no harms with the cam loud Yahoo Courier, in succession with MacOSX 10.4.8 on an PowerBook 1.5 GHz G4 with 512MB RAM.The reins are easy to use, but you have to scroll down to find them. It might be nice in the possibility to have a break dialogue box void to chat exposure, frames per following, etc.Naturally, I'd give it a 3. But I'll say it again, YOU CAN"T BEAT THE PRICE. For that, it gets an extra star from 3 to 4.

I don't admit why, but I bought this webcam for my Mac thinking it was the only third party webcam with the intention of would bring about natively with iChat. If such a webcam exists, this isn't it. The Macally IceCam subdue requires iChatUSBCam (a further $10 piece of software you be inflicted with to buy, although you do get it for semi off owing to a voucher included with this camera). I don't know it would be inflicted with worked in Skype lacking the break iChatUSBCam software but I didn't test with the intention of.The driver bed in was painless, although it did leave me with an application in my Applications directory as well, called Webcam Mind, which seemed to do nothing at all.It works in iChat, I tested it between two computers on my home network, so the performance should be inflicted with been essential. My other Mac uses a built-in iSight and the depiction quality for with the intention of one was fantastic. Not so, with the Macally IceCam. It looks completely awful. The focus is never aptly, no matter how greatly I fiddle with the focus dial. The pledge is low, in any explanation, and the frame rank is even worse. iChat reported 15fps but it looked extra like low single digits. I would estimate between 2 and 5 frames per following. Worthless.I recommend getting iChatUSBCam from Ecamm and using it to operate one of the other well-matched third party webcams on the market. Or, if you be inflicted with OSX 10.4.9 or shortly, you can get certain Logitech QuickCam models with the intention of don't demand any bonus software to bring about with iChat.

This web cam is the release low-deprivation one I may maybe discover for a Mac. It facility water supply including Skype, which is all I sought after it for. It has no bells and whistles, but gets the job owing to.
- Doodlebug "hurdcat"
It facility with OS10.4.6 without export no matter what business else, although you need install an emotionally involved driver in your pad. To the best of my knowledge, this is the most evenhanded webcam for Mac users. The top of the webcam and the assumed role quality are not that splendid, but I find it satisfactory to show your family/friends how well you look.

Transmitted video using Skype is OK. Not the highest feature but adequate. Purchased primarily to use on my Macintosh laptop. It did not work. However, works fine on my desktop mac. Skype will not work if the camera monitor software provided including this camera is activated. You must quit this application before using Skype. I like goose-neck design. Unfortunately, its video feature isf average to below average. It would be great if Macally improved resolution for this camera (or is there a further improved model that I am not aware of!).

I bought one of these for my protect to use with iChat AV and Mac OS X 10.3. With the addendum of Ecamm's "iChatUSBCam" software (not included) it does work reasonably nicely, agreed the limitations of this USB camera and assuming you don't go into full screen mode. Physically, the camera is only just grand at all. The real camera itself is slightly less important than, say, a Bic lighter. The cable to join it to your pad is strengthened; you bend the wire like a coat coat-hanger to position the camera. The good business is this makes the camera infinitely positionable. The bad business is if you want to use this as a desk camera you'll find even the slightest trembling makes the camera wobble. I've establish that if you wrap the wire around a solid object like a desk help, the camera becomes significantly more stable. Of way, this camera is actually intended for travel use which makes all of this sweet well moot. IMAGE QUALITY: Image quality is clad for a USB camera but it won't win any awards. It does NOT like darkness or dimly lit areas; artifacting becomes a conundrum when lighting goes down. Agreed proper lighting conditions it produces an conventional image. The ring around the lens allows you to focus it, but since the aperature is so tiny persons with large hands may find it difficult to change. Macally has VERY good customer help and has historically been very Macintosh friendly. BOTTOM LINE: If you're looking for a low-cost (Mac-friendly) webcam and you're not terribly worried about premium image quality, this is a good way to go.
